PRE-PRODUCTION PLANNING
In my pre-production planning of my overall promotional package, I looked for inspiration from variety of real media texts. I did a little research on get up and attitudes of typical teenagers that i wanted in my film, this was easy to find in lorde's music videos
taken from music video of royals by lorde
taken from the original video of TEAM
this is taken from the movie the requiem for a dream, my whole video is inspired by this movie based on drug abuse. My concept of society is quite similar to the one shown in this movie.
from someone new by hozier
Other than the attire of teenagers, I also wanted some ideas that could symbolize drug intake etc, for this I also rewatched requiem for a dream and came across a scene:
i hope to add some part of this in my music video.
PERMISSION
I sent an email to the original artist, lorde, or the track team, to grant me the permission to use her song in my music video.

MEETING WITH CASTS
So I've made my storyboard and had a few people in my mind who could act out in my video, and I had meeting with all of them to consult if they are agreeing to act in my video, and also to see for myself their time table matches with my own, this was my first meeting.
In my second meeting i gave the acting roles to my selected actors ( 1 girls and 1 boy), i stated my locations with date and time that i wanted to shoot my film at. Since my lip sync actor is my school mate, I arranged a projector in my media studies lab for convenience and to save time.
This was it for the meeting.

ANALYSIS OF TRACK PART 2
In this section, I would discuss what I tried to show as a concept in my music video along with the song lyrics.
The song as I mentioned in my previous section is Team by lorde
Wait till you're announced
we've not yet lost all our graces
the hounds will stay in chains
look upon your greatness and she'll send the call out
send the call out x15
Lorde is addressing the kids growing out of their little bubble of immaturity and opening their eyes to real world. Coming of age is often discussed in songs as well as movies and I have seen a great share of those. Here, lorde is both optimistic and pessimistic about it.
Call the ladies out, they are in their finery
A hundred jewels on throat
a hundred jewels between teeth
here she adresses them separately, although this originally meant teenage girls all dressed up with still with braces as 'jewels', suggesting coming of age again but I interpreted it as, loss of innocence. 'A hundred jewels on throat' symbolizing money and wealth or just the world. Furthermore, 'A hundred jewels between teeth' again emphasizing hunger for more or my second interpretation was that of cigarettes between teeth termed as 'jewels' suggesting that being intoxicated is important for the people being grabbed by the throat by the world and society.
while I was making the story board, the image formed in my mind was a close up shot of throat being choked by several hands symbolizing societal pressure
'skin in craters like the moon'
This line compares boys to moon and points out the dents in their skin, I interpreted this as flaws created by being constantly under pressure.
'Dancin' around the lies we tell dancin' around big eyes as well'
'lies' could be the lies society tells the kids through media and other means that distorts the reality that is not so sweet and agreeing. 'big eyes' being the judgmental stares received by elders.
'We live in cities you'll never see on screen
not very pretty but we sure know how to run things.
living in ruins 0f a palace within my dreams
and you know, we're on each others team'
this again speaks of the world that we live in that media never bothers to show without distorting, In my music video I decided to show a shot related to intoxication during the lines 'but we sure know how to run free' so the audience gets the idea drug intoxication and drifting away from the world is what gets them going.
So, through this I tried my best to present the contemporary society.
